Bhakti

Short Film | Portrait Documentary

In the heart of Kathmandu, a woman named Bhakti quietly rewrites the narrative she was born into. Denied an education as a girl and left to navigate adulthood without the ability to read or write, she spent decades hiding her illiteracy behind the counter of her family’s meat shop. But when she discovers a local nonprofit offering literacy classes to women like her, Bhakti steps into a classroom for the first time. What unfolds is not just a story of learning the alphabet—it’s the transformation of a woman reclaiming her agency, her dignity, and her voice. Bhakti is a testament to the quiet power of education and the extraordinary courage it takes to begin again.
